More than one hundred thousand American children are in need of a forever home, less ten-year-old Danny for whom Jake Dekker rescued from the nightmare of Foster Care.

Jake Dekker shares with Allen and our audience his book, One Kid at a Time, which recounts the heartwarming story about a single, successful man who adopted a child no one else wanted, and has made it a priority to share the challenges we face and difficulties the troubled Foster Care system places on our nation.

Most of all, he forces us to acknowledge all the American-born children who have been abandoned, abused, and neglected, desperate to be given a chance.

Jake Dekker, author of “One Kid at a Time” is a businessman and writer. He spent more than two years representing children as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). He regularly advocates for child welfare and foster care reform. Currently he is working on his next book about children in the child welfare system.

To protect his son’s privacy, Jake Dekker is a pseudonym.
